The Brickyard Belonged To The Crowd

13 JUN 2026

The Brickyard in Carlisle has hosted plenty of nights, but this one belonged to the crowd from the first chord. We knew early on this was going to be a special one. The room was packed, the energy was up, and by the second song the front rows weren't just watching, they were singing every line back at us.

A massive part of that comes down to the crew. We had a brilliant sound guy on the desk all night, getting every mix locked in tight from the opening notes, and a lighting man who read the room perfectly, building the show with us rather than just running a preset. Shows like this only happen when the team behind the scenes is on it, and on Friday night they absolutely were.

By the time we hit 'Bad', the whole place was moving. EdgeBob and T-Bono left the stage and went straight down into the crowd, mics in hand, surrounded by people singing along arm in arm. We did it again for 'Streets', and for a few minutes the line between the band and the audience just disappeared. That's the whole point of doing this.

Honestly, nights like this don't come along often. From the first note to the last the crowd gave us everything, and by the encore it felt less like a gig and more like a room full of old friends who all happened to know the same songs. Gigs like that stay with you.

Carlisle, you were unreal. Thank you for the noise, the singalongs, and for making The Brickyard feel like a stadium for one night.

And we're not leaving it there. The Brickyard have already asked us back, and we've said yes: U2.V2 returns to Carlisle on 26 June 2027. Get it in the diary, because after Friday night we know exactly what we're walking back into.
